Lead funnel calculator: from website traffic to revenue, and where it leaks

A lead funnel multiplies conversion rates stage by stage: visitors × visitor-to-lead rate = leads; leads × qualification rate = qualified leads; qualified leads × close rate = customers; customers × average deal value = revenue. Working backwards from a revenue target gives the traffic you need. Improving the weakest stage usually adds more revenue than buying more traffic.

Monthly revenue from the funnel

$48,000

10,000 visitors a month become 200 leads, 80 qualified leads and 16 customers — about $48,000 of revenue.

Biggest leak: the visitor-to-lead rate (2%) is below a typical 2.5%. Raising it to that level would lift revenue to about $60,000 a month without extra traffic.

Where funnels usually leak

StageCommon causesFixes
Visitor → lead Slow pages, unclear offer, long forms Faster pages, one clear call to action, shorter forms, chat
Lead → qualified Wrong traffic, vague targeting Tighter keywords and audiences, qualifying questions on forms
Qualified → customer Slow follow-up, weak proposals, no nurturing Reply within minutes, case studies, email nurturing, clear pricing

Why conversion beats traffic

Rates multiply through the funnel, so a small improvement at one stage lifts everything below it. Moving the visitor-to-lead rate from 2% to 3% has the same effect as 50% more traffic — usually at a fraction of the cost.

Speed of response is one of the strongest levers at the bottom of the funnel: leads contacted quickly are far more likely to become customers.

Setting up funnel tracking

  1. Track form submissions, calls and chats as conversions in Google Analytics and your ad platforms.
  2. Record the source of every lead in your CRM.
  3. Mark leads as qualified, won or lost consistently.
  4. Send won deals back to Google Ads as offline conversions so bidding optimises for revenue.

FAQ

Lead funnel & conversion calculator questions

How do you calculate a sales funnel conversion rate? +

Divide the number of people who reach a stage by the number at the previous stage. The overall rate is the product of all stage rates.

What is a good website visitor-to-lead conversion rate? +

For B2B service websites, around 2–3% is often quoted as typical; strong landing pages with high-intent traffic can convert much higher.

How much traffic do I need to hit my revenue target? +

Divide the revenue target by revenue per visitor (lead rate × qualification rate × close rate × deal value). The calculator shows this as “visitors needed”.

What is the difference between a lead and a qualified lead? +

A lead is anyone who enquires. A qualified lead matches your target customer and has a real need, budget and timeline.

Which funnel stage should I fix first? +

The one furthest below benchmark — the calculator highlights it. Fixing a leak is usually cheaper than buying more traffic.
